Prunus serotina
THE TIMBER:
The heartwood is light brown, but not as pinkish-brown as black cherry.
WORKABILITY:
As with black cherry, import cherry works well, saws cleanly
and planes and turns well. It takes glue well and will take a very fine
finish.
USES:
Import cherry is used locally for small furniture and craftwork. Some particularly beautiful turned work can be obtained from this wood. |
